Online voting booths in the Lake District

The Westmorland Gazette’s web site has launched its first online polling station to allow readers to vote on traffic changes proposed for Kendal.

The council has a number of plans for the area which range from bus and cycle lanes and traffic re-routing to park and ride schemes.

The polling ‘booth’ will be constructed so that readers can give the different proposals a rating rather than a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer.

Roads through Kendal are amongst the busiest in the Lake District and voting responses will be forwarded to the Kendal Traffic Steering Group.

With the voting technology now installed, the site can plans to regular poll its readers on matters of local interest.

The site can be found at thisisthelakedistrict.co.uk
