Online this is sites relaunch

The this is network of websites from Northcliffe Electronic Publishing are being relaunched with a redesign and re-engineered platform.

Two sites – thisisderbyshire.co.uk and thisisleicestershire.co.uk – were the first to appear in their new form, and the remaining 24 sites will go live at regular intervals between now and July.

The pages, linked to Northcliffe’s daily, evening and weekly newspapers around the country, now more clearly identify the newspaper brand which drives each site.

The redesign process has enabled sites which had previously been fed by two major titles to be split into two sites, each one focused on just one newspaper brand.

This will mean that the Western Daily Press, Bristol Evening Post, The Citizen, Gloucestershire Echo, the Press & Journal and Aberdeen Evening Express will have their own sites, rather than competing for space on a shared one.

thisisnottingham.co.uk was the latest to see the changes introduced, with Hull and Exeter due to follow soon.

Steve Allen, content development manager at Northcliffe Electronic Publishing, which runs the sites, said contacting the world of the Evening Post was now just a click away.

“We’ve been working on the redesign since last August, starting with how we wanted it to look,” he said.

“We want the site to be more readily associated with the newspaper, so there are more Post logos and a bigger Evening Post section for contacting the paper.

“Quite a lot of users come on to find out about the paper and how to send in stories.”

Steve said the jobs, motoring and homes sections had been expanded and were now easier to find.

“The daily e-mails where we send out links to the day’s top five stories are also being expanded,” he added.

“We are adding a flash alert system so that as soon as big stories break we’ll send information to people’s inboxes.”
