An Internet connection for British Columbia woman Sonia Kirkpatrick gave an unexpected result.

She was surfing the online pages of The Bucks Herald and found a story about her family back home.

The item that caught her eye was a story about her dad’s wife Lynn who had bravely beaten off escaped criminals in Aylesbury where the couple live.

The pair hadn’t been in touch for 19 years but the story spurred her on and she made contact with her dad Ken in an emotional phone call from Canada.
