On top of the world

Football fan Ken Hunter has won the holiday of a lifetime thanks to his local evening paper – the Bournemouth Daily Echo.

Ken, and wife Vicky – who is usually a football widow – will be joining a luxury cruise alongside most of the 1966 England World Cup winning team.

Airtours ran a competition, supported by the Echo, offering a holiday for two on the first 1966 World Cup reunion cruise this October which will visit Spain, Morocco, the Canaries, Madeira and Portugal.

Ken beat more than 1,000 other readers to first prize, and now he and Vicky will be rubbing shoulders with stars including hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst, Nobby Stiles and Alan Ball.

Ken (38) said: “We are always entering Daily Echo compeitions, but the most we have won in the past are a few T-shirts and some CDs. I am a huge football fan and it will be fantastic to meet the team of ’66”.
