Nick wins editorship of Yorkshire weekly

The Bridlington Free Press has a new editor.

Nick Procter, (34), has joined the newspaper from the Whitby Gazette, where he was deputy editor for three years.

He has worked for Yorkshire Regional Newspapers since 1993, starting as a trainee reporter at the Scarborough Evening News.

Nick, (left), was chief sub-editor at Scarborough before moving to the Whitby Gazette in October 2000.

The Bridlington Free Press is a paid-for weekly newspaper with a circulation of nearly 15,400, and is part of the Johnston Press group.

Nick, who has also been appointed editor of the Bridlington Gazette & Herald – a free weekly – said: “I am excited to be joining such a successful team. The Bridlington Free Press is a fantastic newspaper.”

He takes over from Selwyn Dunford, who retired in February. Selwyn had edited the Bridlington Free Press, along with its sister title the Gazette & Herald, for the past seven years and enjoyed a varied career on local, regional and national titles.
