Newsroom quintet completes Race for Life

Five journalists from the Warrington Guardian in Cheshire were among hundreds of women who ran in the Race For Life to raise cash for Cancer Research UK.

Deputy editor Nicola Priest, sub-editor Melanie Moore, features sub-editor Michelle Corbett, reporter Jenni Carroll and Internet content editor Emma Stewart all took part in Sunday’s event… and are still counting how much they have raised.

They were joined by colleagues from other departments in the Guardian Series, which is owned by Newsquest.

The 5km race was held within the grounds of Walton Hall Gardens, near Warrington.

Race organiser James Dunphy said: “Every pound that is raised through the Race for Life is vital and will contribute to the national target of £20m.

“If we reach that target it will make a great difference to the work of Cancer Research UK and more people will begin to hear the words ‘all clear’.”

The 1,000 women who took part in Sunday’s race were just a small selection of the women who took part nationally in more than 150 races across the UK from the Channel Islands to Aberdeen.
