A robber has been jailed for four years after seeing his photo in the South Wales Echo and handing himself in.
The man walked up to a policeman and told him he was the wanted man in the paper on the day a CCTV image of him was published.


Manchester Evening News publisher MEN Media is to launch ‘The Jobs Mine’ service, which will bring together recruitment advertising from the daily paper and the group’s 20 weekly newspapers, Channel M and network of 18 websites.
Holding the largest number of real Manchester jobs in its database, it will allow companies to showcase jobs when, where and how jobseekers choose to receive the information, whether in print, broadcast or online.
It is currently being launched to recruitment agencies and will launch to the public in January 2008.


The Scotsman has launched an online shop where readers can buy a range of products including kitchen and dining equipment, gifts and gadgets.
It has been developed with online mail order company Advanced Mail Order’s e-commerce software, and is the latest in a series of new platform launches to scotsman.com.


Newsquest’s internet business s1 has been been nominated as Scotland’s Best Ever Brand as part of a series of special awards commemorating the 21st anniversary of the Scottish Advertising Awards.
s1jobs.com was launched in January 2001 and further sites have followed including s1homes, s1play and s1learning.
Other nominees in the Best Brand Ever category are Tennent’s, Irn Bru and Glenmorangie, and the winner will be announced on October 26.


Wales’ soon to be launched Welsh national daily newspaper, Y Byd, is to launch a Welsh business club.
Byd Busnes The World of Business will offer members benefits such as discounted advertising rates in Y Byd, invitations to an annual dinner and other events, inclusion in its business directory and the opportunity to invest in the paper.
The paper is due to launch on March 3 2008.
