News in brief

A consultation period has begun at the Southern Daily Echo on the proposed relocation of two of its reporters who are currently based at the paper’s Winchester office in Upper Brook Street.
The Echo’s sister title, the Hampshire Chronicle, also has an office in Winchester, and both editorial teams produce material for both newspapers.
It is understood that the two journalists at Upper Brook Street could be moved to the Chronicle’s office or to the Echo’s head office in Southampton, but front of house staff will remain.
Ian Murray, editor-in-chief for Newsquest Hampshire, said: “It isn’t a closure of an office by any means, both will remain, and there will be no redundancies. It is a continuation of Newsquest reporters working together and we are having a consultation to see how that will work.”
