PA Entertainment has made several key appointments to its customer publishing operation as it develops its position in the growing customer publishing marketplace.
Paula Chopping joins PA Entertainment as Head of PA Customer Publishing. Paula was previously Head of Sales and Marketing for Archant Dialogue – the customer publishing division of Archant. Claire Spreadbury has been appointed Editor, Customer Publishing, joining PA from Wildfire Communications in Bristol.

The 24 Hour Museum (24HM) is launching its fourth Museums and Galleries Month Arts Writing Prize for student journalists.
The best review or feature about any Museums and Galleries Month 2006 event submitted to the 24HM will win a first prize of £250, with two runners up prizes of £50. Entries are welcome from full or part-time journalism students or those who have recently completed journalistic training, as well as 24HM volunteer writers, past and present.
Participants can write about anything going on in a museum or gallery during May 2006, from exhibitions and events to workshops and hands on activities. Kieran Maloney has been appointed the new chief executive of the Newry Democrat.
He was previously finance director with The Sunday Business and takes over from the current postholder, Tom Brennan, who has spent five years building the weekly newspaper for Newry and Mourne.

The new owner of the Aberdeen Journals, DC Thomson, has raised £2,500 for charity by auctioning a special print of The Beano, which it also publishes.
This and other limited edition artwork brought in £11,245 for the National Library for the Blind.

A charity that promotes citizenship has hosted an event in Westminster to showcase its work in encouraging young people to engage with politics.
The Citizenship Foundation aims to highlight the importance o its two main projects, the National political Journalism Competition, which is currently being judged, and the Youth Parliament Competition.
