Voting is under way for the Fujifilm Award for the Innovation of the Decade 1997-2006, with the award to be given to the innovation which visitors to The Newspaper Awards website will decide on.
They have a choice of seven to choose from and readers also have the chance to nominate their own. Voting closes on April 24 and you can make your voice heard at the awards website.


The Norwich Evening News’s syndicated stories have come out on top in a league table of all the papers of Archant’s regional stable.
The syndication unit, run by Red Williams, raised more than £125,000 in revenue last year, with the top weekly title being Archant London’s Ham & High. Ten per cent of revenue raised goes back to the publications and then to the staff, either in bonuses or a staff party.


Birmingham journalists are being urged to sign up to join the city’s Press Club – free.
And all those who join in the next few weeks will be eligible for inclusion in the club’s republished directory, which will be available after a gap of nine years. Club chairman John Lamb said the developments were part of the group’s ongoing “renaissance”.


Isle of Man Newspapers managing director Trudi Williamson has taken on the role of deputy chairman of the company, under the chairmanship of parent company Johnston Press’s chief executive officer Tim Bowdler.
Former sales director Helen Byrne has taken over Trudi’s old role.


A campaign from the Paisley Daily Express to raise £80,000 by the end of this month to secure the future of a hospice has captured the imagination of readers thanks to a popular Buy a Brick initiative.
Cash and cheques have been flooding into the news offices and money has also been sent in anonymously – even getting posted through the letterbox at the Trinity Mirror paper.
