Bob Phillis, chief executive of Guardian Media Group, which publishes the Manchester Evening News and the Reading Evening Post, has been appointed asa non-executive director of ITV.
His appointment, together with that of Baroness Usha Prashar, chairman of the Royal Commonwealth Society, takes the total number of directors on the board to ten.


Archant Norfolk, publishers of the Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News, has raised £2,500 for victims of the tsunami disaster after holding a special fundraisng day at its head office.
A variety of events were organised by staff, including an auction and raffle.

Long-serving Derbyshire Times correspondent Mary Lumsden has died, aged 85.
She had reported for the paper’s grassroots column for more than 40 years, having first worked as a reporter at the paper during the Second World War when some of its permanent staff were called up.
Her father was former Derbysgire Times chairman and editor Gerald Edmunds.


John Cameron has been honoured for 30 years of service at Aberdeen Journals.
The 56-year-old started working in the caseroom in 1975, and has since enjoyed two further careers with the company, as a night-shift systems operator and senior systems operator.
