Belfast Telegraph journalist Mary Fitzgerald has won a fellowship which will take her to the Washington Post for three months this summer.
Mary, who has been at the Telegraph almost three years after completing a postgraduate journalism course at the University of Ulster, was selected for the Laurence Stern Fellowship.


The Flying Scotsman steam engine has been saved for the nation thanks to a last minute move by heritage chiefs – and helped by the generosity of Yorkshire Post readers.
More than £70,000 was donated by Yorkshire Post readers, which was added to a £1.8m National Heritage Memorial Fund donation and cash from Sir Richard Branson and the National Railway Museum to bring the engine “home” to Yorkshire.
