Journalist and PR expert Helen Sanderson has been appointed public relations manager at the Manchester Evening News.
She has spent the past five years in PR and originally trained as a broadcast journalist, working for CBS in America after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire.


Purple-bearded photographer Roy Ealden has presented a cheque for £1,400 to charity – the proceeds from his beard-dyeing stunt.
He said: “While my fund-raise was easier than running the marathon, I did have to endure lots of people laughing at me when I was walking along High Street.”

Howard Scott has been appointed as group newspaper sales director for Newsquest and will take up his new post at the beginning of April.
Currently managing director of Newsquest (Sussex), Howard, (42), has been in charge at Brighton since July 1999, where titles published include The Argus.


Former Trinity Mirror chief executive Philip Graf has been appointed chairman of vehicle data supplier HPI.
His main role will be to help HPI’s new stock management system to achieve its potential.
