Archant Devon and Archant Somerset are to share a new joint management team following the early retirement of regional director Bob Priddle in December.

The owners of Bedfordshire On Sunday, Local Sunday Newspapers, have appointed Steve Lowe as editorial director.
He joined the company in 1998 as political reporter, becoming news editor in 1999 and editor of Bedfordshire On Sunday in 2000. His new role means he will join the board and be responsible for editorial policy.

A Bristol Evening Post reader who came forward with fresh evidence for a court trial after reading about it in the paper helped secure a new hearing which resulted in a conviction of GBH for a nightclub bouncer.
After the retrial, victim David Lowe, a trainee solicitor, said: “Full credit also to the Evening Post, because without the paper this witness may not have become involved. A different verdict would have been a real blow.”
