The Lincolnshire Echo is getting behind an appeal to send ten city children to meet Father Christmas on the trip of a lifetime to Lapland.
The paper is helping with the fundraising and is also asking readers to nominate deserving youngsters.
“We want to honour the children who would normally go unnoticed with a very special day,” said Joe Cooke, one of the organisers.


The Norfolk Broads is celebrating 70 years of a sailing yard and its boats – thanks to the Eastern Daily Press, which ran a campaign to save the historic fleet.
Norfolk County Council wanted to sell a fleet of sailing cruisers to save money but the EDP campaign to save them, as part of the county’s heritage, was backed by celebrities and buoyed by a £200,000 Lottery grant.
The campaign raised £300,000 to save the Hunter’s Yard and its boats and now five years on they celebrate 70 years of the yard and its fleet.


A boy who stole the hearts of readers of the Reading Evening Post has met the loyal football fans who between them have pledged more than £5,000 for a new wheelchair.
Sam Wheeler has told the fans of Reading FC: “Thank you for caring so much.”


A gourmet meal is to be served up at a top Bournemouth Hotel next week to help boost the Daily Echo-backed £1.2m Domino Appeal to build a school for children with autism.
The evening will have a black and white theme and will be followed by a second event the following day, a corporate quiz night in Poole.


More than 150 former shipyard workers have joined a fight to have their pensions paid after an article in the Liverpool Echo brought them together.
The workers used to be employed by Cammell Laird but the company responsible for their pensions is blaming admin problems on their lack of a payout.
Cammell Laird is in the hands of the receivers and the shipbuilding industry pension scheme said it was not aware of any lost records and believed that all pensions had been paid.
