The Prince of Wales has commended The Blackpool Gazette for helping raise funds for the new £2.5m cancer unit at Blackpool’s Victoria Hospital.
Speaking at a special reception held in Fulwood, Prince Charles urged the public to keep up the good work and raise the £750,000 still needed by the Macmillan Windmill Appeal.

Readers spotted the suspect after his picture appeared in the paper’s Crimewatch West section last November after officers had asked for help in finding a man who stole a £350 television from Asda.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle is giving younger readers across the region the chance to share their views.
The newspaper has launched the Young Reviewers Scheme to promote arts in the region. They aim to recruit 16 to 25-year-olds to help review as many events as possible to compliment their existing reviews.


The Argus Appeal has raised a record-breaking £125,000 to pay for a variety of projects that help deserving people across Sussex.
The Appeal’s major backer was Legal and General, which donated more than £40,000 through sponsoring events and the Christmas Grotto. The newspaper smashed last year’s total of £85,000, the proceeds went to help a number of charitable organisations and individuals.
