New Trinity Mirror boss announced

Joe Sinyor, head of Sony UK and former boss of Dillons, is to become chief executive of Trinity Mirror’s newspaper business.

He will be second-in-command to group chief executive Philip Graf.

This newly-created role gives Mr Sinyor responsibility for the development of all the group’s newspapers – including regional titles like the Birmingham Post & Mail and the Liverpool Post and the Echo, and national titles like the Mirror and the Daily Record in Scotland.

Mr Sinyor (43) joined Sony United Kingdom Limited in 1998 as managing director.

Before that he was managing director of Dillons, the bookseller from (1994 to 1998), and group chief executive of jeans company Pepe Group plc (from 1990 to 1993). He is also a non-executive director of Channel 4.

Mr Graf said: “Joe has an impressive track record and we are delighted to have brought him into the group at this exciting time in our development. He brings strong management skills, brand expertise and consumer marketing strengths that will strongly complement our newspaper skills.”
