An appeal backed by the Worksop Guardian is continuing to capture the imagination of the readers.
Four separate events have brought in £2,347 in the last few days as the paper’s adopted charity raises cash for a bone scanner appeal at Bassetlaw Hospital.
A day out at the seaside brought the money in for the Guardian’s adopted charity.
Two volunteers did a sponsored bike ride to Cleethorpes – and as well as bringing back a few sticks of rock they managed to raise £147.
The appeal received another boost when Stanley Street Sports and Social Club in Worksop donated £2,000. It has raised more than £10,000 for the appeal over the last ten years.
A pub domino team from The Swan Inn, Worksop, raised £150 for the appeal.
The appeal total now stands at almost £76,000, leaving just £4,000 to reach the target.
The Nottinghamshire paper has successfully adopted a charity every year and in 1994 won a national award for helping the local Cancer Research Campaign raise more than £100,000 in one year.
