New Star editor named

Andy Pearson has been named as the new editor of the Llanelli Star.

Currently features editor at the South Wales Evening Post, Andy (pictured) will take over from Robert Lloyd who leaves the paper at the end of October to become deputy editor of the Evening Post.

Andy, (37), began his journalism career 19 years ago on a local weekly paper in Yorkshire.

After four years he moved to South Wales to work as a reporter on the Western Mail and joined the Evening Post nine years ago.

He has been features editor for the past six years and is looking forward to his new role.

He said: “I’m thrilled to have been given the chance to edit the Star.

“Llanelli has a powerful heritage and a wonderful sense of identity. I look forward to playing a key role in the community.”

  • Andy’s appointment is part of a wider reshuffle in South Wales. George Edwards retires from his role as editor of the South Wales Evening Post this week and will be replaced by Spencer Feeney who currently edits The Citizen in Gloucester. Spencer’s deputy will be Robert Lloyd.
