New publication brings Kingston a-Live

Newsquest South London has launched a new title – Kingston Live – a free monthly listings magazine for Kingston, which will be distributed with the Surrey Comet.

The 48-page, B5 magazine, packed with local information, will also be distributed to outlets such as cafes, nightclubsand gyms.

Newsquest decided to launch a magazine in the area as it felt London’s main listings magazines were not giving it the coverage it deserved.

And the publisher brought in a number of sponsor partners to the project, including Kingston Council and the local arts council, but will retain tight editorial control of the magazine to ensure consistency of style and content.

The first issue has been greeted with enthusiasm, and the leader of the council has described its publication as “a red-letter day for Kingston”.

Advertisers have also been enthusiastic, with the first edition exceeding the revenue target.

Editor in Chief Gloria Gray said: “It was a fantastic effort from all disciplines, with editorial, advertising and newspaper sales pulling out all the stops to get the magazine out on time.

“Our phones haven’t stopped ringing with people anxious to make sure they are part of the next edition.”
