Western Mail and Echo Ltd has announced Keith Dye as its new managing director.

Mr Dye has worked in the newspaper industry for more than 20 years, and is currently managing director of Trinity Mirror’s Midlands Weekly Media division. He will take up his new post in January.

After several commercial posts in Thomson Regional newspapers, Mr Dye joined the Trinity group when Scottish and Universal Newspapers was acquired in 1992.

In 1993 he moved to Surrey and South London Newspapers as managing director following the acquisition of Argus Newspapers by Trinity plc.

Mr Dye was appointed to his current role when Trinity plc and Mirror Group plc merged in 1999.

His predecessor, Gavin Steacy, was appointed Trinity Mirror Regional’s change development director earlier this year.
