New editorial team for Trafford Metro

Trafford Metro has a new editorial team with Kate Stirrup being appointed editor and Lauren Steadman taking up the position of deputy editor.

Kate has worked for Greater Manchester Weekly Newspapers, part of MEN Media, for the past six years.

She started her career at GMWN working on the South Manchester Reporter before moving to the Salford Advertiser, where she became deputy editor in 2005. Kate currently edits pages in the Salford sister paper, the Prestwich Advertiser.

Lauren Steadman joined the Salford Advertiser from Press Association in 2005. In June 2006, Lauren became acting deputy editor of the Tameside Advertiser. At the paper her responsibilities included paper layout, news editing and organising competitions.

In March this year, MEN Media announced it was reducing the publishing area of its weekly newspaper title Manchester Metro News and transferring the readership into its existing weekly news titles.

The paper will continue to be published in the south Manchester borough of Trafford, as MEN Media has no other weekly titles in this area.

Kate said: “We will be using contributors and existing staff from MEN Weekly titles to produce informed features and analysis. Manchester is a vibrant city and I want the magazine to reflect this, with a broad range of entertainment features to suit all tastes.

“I want the Trafford Metro to reflect the group’s weekly brand of solid local news and views, local sport and features.”
