New editor chosen for Lincolnshire Echo

Jon Grubb is to become the new editor of the Lincolnshire Echo.

He will leave his current post, as editor of the Scunthorpe Telegraph, at the end of the month and will succeed Mike Sassi in Lincoln.

Jon, (38), has been at Scunthorpe since 2002, and had previously been deputy editor of the Nottingham Evening Post.

The last set of ABCs showed the Scunthorpe Telegraph had increased its circulation, Monday to Friday, by 1.5 per cent to 21,116. The Lincolnshire Echo sells 25,481.

Born and brought up in Lincolnshire, Jon has also worked for the Buckinghamshire Advertiser, and held senior newsroom positions on The Citizen in Gloucester at the time of the Fred West trial.

Northcliffe Newspapers managing director Michael Pelosi said in a memo to staff: “I trust you will join with me in wishing Jon every success in taking forward the Lincolnshire Echo, which has been successfully edited by Mike Sassi for the last six years.”

An announcement on Jon’s successor at Scunthorpe will be made soon.
