New editor and sports editor for Scottish PA

Iain Duff has been appointed editor of The Scottish Press Association.

He joined PA’s Scottish operation as news editor in March and takes overall responsibility for the agency’s 30-strong team of news, sports and photographic journalists and will also continue to build the agency’s video newsgathering operation in Scotland.

The Scottish Press Association provides news, pictures and general information specifically for the media organisations in Scotland via a dedicated newswire.

Iain, (32), was previously deputy news editor and chief reporter of the Glasgow Evening Times. He began his career on the Western Gazette in Somerset.

In addition Ian Rodgers has been promoted to sports editor of The Scottish Press Association after running the agency’s sports operation north of the border since March 2000.

Rodgers began his PA career as sports reporter in the Leeds office in November 1997 before moving to Glasgow as Scottish sports news editor where he has overseen an enormous expansion of sport, including the successful launch of the Scottish sports wire in March.

Under Ian’s leadership the Scottish sports operation has grown to meet the increasing demands of customers.

This expansion has included comprehensive coverage of all Scottish Premier League matches, more in-depth reporting of rugby union, athletics, boxing cricket, golf and minor sports.
