New Derby Telegraph MD is named

Paul Kearney is to become the new managing director of the Derby Telegraph’s publishing company, Derby Daily Telegraph Ltd.

Currently managing director of Northcliffe Newspaper’s South East Weeklies, Paul will fill the role vacated by Tim Kitchen, who is to become managing director at Bristol United Press Ltd on March 1.

The move is part of a group-wide reorganisation prompted by the retirements of Alan Goode and Ken Hayward.

Before taking on his role in the South East, Paul was previously MD of Northcliffe’s Bristol newspapers, and deputy MD at the Leicester Mercury.

Before that he was assistant group advertisement director for Northcliffe Newspapers and previously spent ten years with Thomson Regional Newspapers in commercial management positions in Chester, Edinburgh and Reading.

Replacing Paul in the South East will be Richard Karn, who is currently managing director of Northcliffe Electronic Publishing, based in Derby.

Richard has worked for NEP since 2000, joining the company as operations director, and was previously assistant MD at the Leicester Mercury.

An announcement on Richard’s replacement will be made shortly.
