Richard Neville has been appointed as the new deputy editor of the Aberdeen Press and Journal.

The former editor of Business-am, which ceased publication last year, he succeeds Kay Drummond, who is now deputy editor of the Leicester Mercury.

Prior to joining Business-am, Richard, (35), was deputy editor of the Scotsman.

He has also previously worked for the Daily Record, York Evening Press and Edinburgh Evening News.

Editor Derek Tucker said: “Richard is joining us at an extremely busy and exciting time, and his skills and experience will be invaluable to us as we build for the future.”

The Press and Journal, part of the Northcliffe group, is investing heavily in extra sport, news, business and leisure coverage.

Richard said: “I am delighted to be joining the Press and Journal.

“It is a great paper with a strong history and tradition and I am looking forward to helping to develop and grow the title in the future.”
