Murderer interview for Advertiser

The Redditch Advertiser has secured an exclusive interview with a convicted murderer from his prison cell.

The paper gave space to 19-year-old Omar Mohammed to share his thoughts on the conviction for murdering Liam Gall (18) in the town centre last September.

The verdict devastated his family, which is now hoping to appeal against the conviction.

He told the Advertiser: “I was very shocked and upset by the verdict. I’m feeling so stressed here and very depressed.”

But the victim’s mother, Lesley Little had said after the verdict: “Today we have seen justice done for the murder of our son.

“Nothing will ever change the pain we are in and will continue to be in for the rest of our lives.”

She said she felt real sympathy for Mohammed’s family, who had stood by their son, but was pleased justice had been done.

Reporter Becky Procter spoke to Mohammed during his nightly telephone call to his family.
