Multimedia shift prompts Trinity Mirror training move

Trinity Mirror is to appoint a new editorial training manager to ensure staff have the right skills as the group continues its strategy to evolve from newspaper to multimedia publisher.

It says working methods and the skills needed across the group are changing, prompting the creation of a new post for the North East and Scotland, based in Newcastle.

Trinity Mirror’s regionals editorial director Neil Benson said: “Our development plans for editorial are bigger and more diverse than ever before, which is why we are upping our editorial training resource.

“As well as the traditional, core training across the regionals division, we are accelerating our involvement in multimedia journalism and we are also in the midst of an editorial systems upgrade.

“All of that requires extra training support, so we are looking for a top-flight professional to make a real difference to the quality and breadth of our training.”

The North East editorial training manager will lead training and development at titles including the Evening Chronicle, The Journal, Evening Gazette and Sunday Sun as well as Scottish & Universal Newspapers’ weekly papers, liaising with editors across the region.
