  • He said: “I hope the the Herald & Post’s move to new premises in the heart of Darlington is as successful as it is a paper which plays an important role in our community.”

The move means that staff at the Herald & Post, which has been in Darlington for 30 years, are now based in a more central location at Royal Oak Yard.

They previously worked in a converted mid-terrace house on Duke Street, and the new premises were specially converted by the Gazette Media Company for staff working on the paper’s Darlington, South Durham and North Yorkshire editions.

Managing director Alastair MacColl said: “We are delighted to demonstrate our commitment to Darlington and the surrounding area with the transformation of this historic building.

“The move of the Herald & Post into the heart of the town is a sign of our commitment to the people and businesses of the area.”
