Morning paper launches free access web TV

The Irish News has launched an online free-to-view TV service ‘INTV’.

It can be accessed via the newspaper’s new website www.in.tv and will carry programmes dedicated to general news, business, sport, religious affairs and entertainment.

The Irish News is the first newspaper in Ireland to launch a television service on its website.

Video news launched on www.irishnews.com in September last year with the new project launching this week as a brand extension in the ‘INTV’ format.

It is targeted at anyone with an interest in news in Ireland, both local and national, and will cover the same breadth of subjects that Irish News readers currently enjoy.

Irish News editor Noel Doran said: “This is a natural step for our newspaper which already offers unrivalled coverage to our readers.

“INTV will offer those across Ireland an extended insight into our stories, with detailed interviews and reports.

“Further afield, those not able to pick up a copy of the newspaper can still keep in touch with all the issues, and with INTV, will be able to enjoy in-depth programming and analysis, from sports right through to entertainment.”

UTV and Setanta Sports presenter Graham Little will be fronting the sports coverage and will be joined by Andrea Devlin and Aislinn Hagan who will present news.

A number of Irish News journalists will contribute and present a range of programmes.
