Editor Harry Blackwood said: “While many will view it as the ultimate fashion statement, Dick merely views it as a bit of a laugh and an easy way of raising some cash for the Mail’s Have a Heart fund.
“He even managed to persuade Church Street barber Ian Taylor to tackle the job for free.
“We have no worries about Richard getting funny looks from strangers – he gets them all the time.”
