Modern apperance lifts Evening Post

The South Wales Evening Post has a new look for the new year, with a bolder masthead, a re-shaped front page solus ad, and new typefaces.

The changes have been brought in to give the Swansea-based Northcliffe title a more modern appearance.

  • The Post commissioned former Northern Echo editor Peter Sands, now of The Editorial Centre, to redesign its pages.

His brief was to make the newspaper brighter without reducing story count or losing its community news feel.

The main body text in the new look is Utopia Regular.

The paper’s main headline font is Tempo Heavy Condensed, with Helvetica used for contrast headlines with Utopia Bold text.

Post editor, Spencer Feeney, told readers on the first day of the new look: “Over the last 24 months, we have devoted a lot of time and effort to improving the newspaper’s content. Now we have moved on another stage, by giving that content a new, cleaner appearance.

“But our commitment to giving readers unrivalled coverage of local news and sport remains unchanged.”
