Missing girl spotted after P1 press appeal

A front page plea for help in tracing a missing 12-year-old girl resulted in her being found just hours after her photo appeared in the Paisley Daily Express.

Jamie Leigh Colquhoun was located safe and well after several phone calls were made to police following the appeal.

She was first spotted walking alone by an ice cream man and then in another part of the same area by a second member of the public.

Once police got an idea of the district she was in they began a tour of the two estates and soon found her.

A police spokesman said: “We received a few phone calls from people in Paisley after the Express used the story on the front page.

“We want to thank those people and everyone else who helped trace the youngster.”

The police had previously been searching areas she was thought to have been seen in and her description was circulated to local police stations but the search proved fruitless before her photo was published in the Express.
