Lynn News denies asbestos charges

The Lynn News has denied three charges of failing to ensure the health and safety of its staff and other people working at its offices in King’s Lynn.

Anglia Newspapers pleaded not guilty to three charges each relating to the discovery of asbestos while new air conditioning was installed at the Purfleet Street offices in King’s Lynn.

The company faces two charges under the Health and Safety Act 1974, of failing to ensure the health and safety of its own employees and those of EOC Services, the firm involved in the work.

It is also charged with failing to prevent exposure of employees to asbestos, under the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987.

The prosecution is being brought by the Borough of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk.

The bi-weekly Lynn News is owned by Johnston Press and covers King’s Lynn, Swaffham, Hunstanton, Downham Market and West Norfolk.
