London weekly's slick timing impresses at major event

Wembley Times journalists at an event to mark developments around the new national stadium stunned visitors by distributing a supplement on the meeting, before it had taken place!

The 16-page special was taken by North West London Newspapers editor Tim Cole, general manager Tony Portelli and reporter Charlie Chute to the Wembley Conference Centre for the presentation to business, industry, residents and anyone who has a stake in the future of the area.

Tim, (above), said afterwards: “It was a great night and one of those occasions where you get a real buzz.

“We managed to get our supplement on the changes and the future plans out in time to take bundles along so that people could read what they were about to be told before they heard it!

“The complements we had were amazing – the three of us got up from our table after the presentations and never made it away from where we were standing.”

The event – hosted by Brent Council and developers Quintain Estates, and involving Wembley Stadium, the London Development Agency and Transport for London – was the day before the International Olympic Committee was due to visit, and copies of the supplement were still available.

It topped a great week for the paper, with the newly-redesigned edition, with the headline ‘Ready for the world by 2012′ hitting the streets midweek.
