Editor Robert Lloyd was the self-confessed “chief stirrer” after losing a public bet mentioned in his outspoken Lloyd At Large column in the Llanelli Star.
He ended up serving lunch at a local school after the bet with council marketing manager Huw Parsons was turned into a challenge – “to make it more interesting”.
Lloyd, a Scarlets fan to the core, was so confident Llanelli would beat Gloucester in a recent European Cup rugby match that he wagered £5 on the result.
Not content with that, Huw hit on the idea to get the loser to serve lunch at a local comprehensive.
Of course, Llanelli lost 28-27, so Mr Parsons called in his bet and asked the editor to don his kitchen overalls and eat his words.
But both parties ended up happy – with both grateful for the chance of a colourful photo opportunity!
