Llanelli team branches out

The publishers of the South Wales Evening Post have been awarded the contract to produce Y Tir (The Land) – the monthly newspaper for the Farmers Union of Wales.

South West Wales Publications, which also produces the Llanelli Star and Carmarthen Journal, now has a major role in all aspects of production.

The editorial input is being handled by the team at the Llanelli Star, with advertising being sold by a Swansea-based team under Julie Begg, the new business manager at SWWP. The paper itself is being printed in Swansea.

Y Tir has a cover price of 35p and is distributed to all members of the union. The first issue will be a minimum 24 pages.

Star editor Robert Lloyd (pictured right) said: “Y Tir is an exciting special project for the SWWP teams in Llanelli and Swansea.

“The aim of Welsh Farmer is to entertain and inform the farmers of Wales and keep them up to date with all the latest news in the Principality.”

The last 12 months has seen the group take on a number of new projects in Llanelli.

He said: “We now produce a bi-monthly newspaper for the West Wales Chamber of Commerce – Carmarthenshire Business News. This 16-page paper is produced by Suzanne Oakley in Llanelli.

“It is distributed to a database of 6,500 businesses throughout Carmarthenshire and has been well received by the local business community.”
