Budding newshounds who are learning their skills with the help of the Port Talbot Courier are to receive a top award.
They will be among a dozen Youth Work in Wales Excellence Awards winners and be in contention for the top prize.
They have been publishing the Teen Voice newspaper, a project which has won through against 64 other high quality entries.
Excellence Awards co-ordinator Wayne Warner said: “It is not that unusual to have a publication for young people but here was one which seemed to be very professional.
“It involved young people in every aspect and then being able to publish it in a professional newspaper as well, showed how good it was.
“It allowed young people to express themselves and gave them relevant skills and a great deal of confidence, so it stuck out among all the other entries.”
