Journalist unveils new book

The latest book of nostalgia to be compiled by South Wales Evening Post Consumer Editor David Roberts has been unveiled.

Swansea – Those Were The Days follows four previous volumes and contains 425 pictures of people, streets and shops from the Swansea area.

David said: “I think the books have won a special place in the heart of the people of Swansea because the pictures are of time many of them can remember.

“Like its predecessors it looks back through the eyes of all those who have contributed. It is not one person’s viewpoint but a gathering from across the city.

“Uniquely it allows each of its contributors to play their own part in an on-going record of the social history of Swansea.”

In his foreword, Evening Post editor George Edwards said: “The Evening Post is delighted to be associated with the latest evocative trip down memory lane.

Swansea – Those Were The Days has resulted in a further, fascinating crop of illustrations of faces, places and events from days past.”

The response to his books has meant that David is not ruling out a further volume.

He said: “More and more people are coming forward with pictures which otherwise would never see the light of day, or find a place of record.”

Swansea – Those Were The Days is available from the South Wales Evening Post offices priced £12.99.
