Journalist's name lives on at theatre

A plaque commemorating a former Kent and Sussex Courier journalist has been unveiled at a Tonbridge theatre.

Margaret Sillwood worked at the Kent and Sussex Courier for more than 20 years and was arts editor when she died in 1998 aged 55.

The following year the paper set up the Margaret Sillwood legacy as part of it’s millennium project.

During the unveiling of the plaque a £5,000 donation was made to the Oast Theatre as part of the legacy.

The theatre was chosen for its work in the community and the money will be used for much-needed renovations.
