Is it a libel lottery?

Famous, or infamous, winners and losers in libel cases are expected to make an appearance at a debate called The Libel Lottery next month.

The event, being organised by the Society of Editors and the Media Group at the London School of Economics, will start at 6pm on October24 at the Old Theatre, London School of Economics, Houghton Street, London WC2.

Speakers will include Alan Rusbridger, Editor of The Guardian, who took on Jonathan Aitken and Susan Aslan of DJ Freeman who has acted for Channel Four and others in a number of high profile victories including Eugene Terrablanch and Edwina Currie.

The discussion will be chaired by Sir Michael Davies, a former High CourtJudge who has presided over libel trials.
