Insight into life at the Chronicle

An insight into life running The Bath Chronicle will be given by editor David Gledhill as he speaks to the city’s business community.

He will speak at the next Bath Chronicle Business Breakfast event on June 29 as part of celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary of his appointment.

He will talk about his decade at the helm of the newspaper, during which time the title has scooped a number of awards.

David took over what was then the Evening Chronicle in March 1994, and in just two months overhauled, redesigned and relaunched the paper as The Bath Chronicle.

The rejuvenation of the paper involved a fresh identity, a new corporate logo and the greater use of colour.

Within 18 months of taking control of the newspaper, he had transformed the title from registering a loss of almost £1m in 1994, to putting it back in the black.

He has seen a succession of reorganisations under the three companies which have owned the paper in the past decade.

During those ten years, The Bath Chronicle has won a number of awards, including the coveted Newspaper Society Community Newspaper of the Year.

It has also been shortlisted for the Newspaper Focus Newspaper of the Year – the only provincial evening newspaper to have been nominated.
