I love LA!

A new home with a view of the famous Hollywood sign reminds former regional press photographer Frazer Harrison to keep on reaching for the stars.

His new work in Los Angeles keeps him in close touch with the rich and famous – although they’re not always that pleased to see him…

It’s all a far cry from his work at the Hull Daily Mail, and before that, the Lincolnshire Echo.

He said: “I had a few words with Anthony Hopkins but he was not best pleased to see me and a reporter when we knocked on his home door to ask him a few questions.

“I got the impression that he and the press aren’t the best of friends!”

Frazer got his big break to the US this summer, when he said goodbye to the regional press in favour of the glitz and glamour of working for the World Entertainment News Network, which specialises in celebrity news and pictures.

Nowadays it’s not just old actors who shun poor Frazer. He’s also had brushes with Madonna and Britney.

He said: “So far I’ve photographed Pamela Anderson, Meg Ryan, Will Smith, Ted Danson, Pierce Brosnan, Posh Spice and Billy Bob Thornton.

“I chased Madonna through the streets of LA. That was fun. It was my first chase.

“Britney Spears was my second. Most of the day I spend sitting in the car, watching and waiting for the moment to pounce. Overall I’m enjoying it!”

He said it took a while to get used to the idea of sometimes going for a full week without taking a picture – very different to what he’s been used to.

But the rewards are there – seeing his pictures published in newspapers and magazines worldwide being just one, and the 75-degree days another.
