Hundreds of mourners turn out for Michael

More than 400 hundred mourners turned out to pay their last respects at the funeral of Welsh journalist Michael Boon.

Michael, who was 67, died from cancer.

He had been a journalist for 50 years and received an MBE for services to journalism in the 2000 New Year Honours.

Michael was one of the founding members of the Wales on Sunday newspaper and also worked for the Llanelli Star, South Wales Evening Post, Western Mail and Sunday Express.

He spent much of his career sports reporting and won the Welsh Sports Journalist of the Year award 2001, from the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame.

Michael leaves a widow Val and sons Richard, Gareth and Martin.
