Hull Daily Mail – by cable!

Readers of the Hull Daily Mail can now view the newspaper through their television.

The city’s cable TV operator has teamed up with the paper for a new initiative On The Box.

The service is believed to be the first of its kind in the country and will give viewers the chance to access news, sports news and classified advertising.

The Hull Daily Mail’s e-media managing editor, Sue Ostler, said: “The service will give the top news and sports stories of the day in brief.

“It is an innovative service. As far as we know, it is the first of its kind in the country – and it is especially for KIT subscribers.

“At the moment, we are providing summaries of news stories but we will soon be moving towards a full video and news service.

“What people will be getting is the same quality, professional news service because the stories will be coming out of the Mail’s news room.

“What we have launched is just the start of where we want the service to go in the future.”

Hull Daily Mail assistant editor Marc Astley said: “We are the key news and information provider in the region and our aim is to offer a service to our customers in whatever form they prefer. I am sure this will be a big success.”
