Holiday help

An evening newspaper is rallying around to help readers who feel they’ve been short-changed by a holiday firm.

Scores of complaints to the Evening Press in York have included holidaymakers arriving at their destination to find they have not been booked in, and a man who had to pay up extra cash after the holiday firm’s cheque
to a villa bounced.

The Press is organising a public meeting tomorrow (Wednesday 16) to find out more about alleged problems with Global Vacations.

Staff at the paper is working with the city council’s trading standards team to get to the bottom of the complaints.

The aggrieved customers will be able to get advice from a solicitor as part of the help available.

The Press has also invited a representative from Global Vacations to the meeting to answer customer queries.

The paper told its readers: “People may also wish to discuss their own experiences and possibly form some kind of action group to represent their interests.

“Confidentiality will be guaranteed for all those requesting it.”
