A campaign in Windsor to get more bobbies on the beat is being backed by a local politician.

Windsor MP Michael Trend has given his support to the Windsor and Eton Express appeal for more police to patrol the area on foot.

He said:”I feel very strongly there ought to be more police on the beat.

“We need policemen freed from endless paperwork they have to do at the moment. Civilians should be doing that.”

The Express is printing a coupon for readers to fill in and send to Jack Straw urging him to change the system to create more foot patrols.

The response has been hailed as ‘incredible’ by the paper.
