He's just a big teddy bear!

When it comes to volunteers in the newsroom, staff at the South Wales Evening Post don’t seem to be backward at coming forward.

When much of the media shy away from the spotlight, one or two souls brave it out… for the fun of it.

When the Millennium Coastal Park was short of a guest artist for their Teddy Bears’ picnic on the prom, the Evening Post’s Llanelli-based reporter Nick Parry stepped into the breach.

Or was it into his bear suit?

Editor Robert Lloyd said: “Comments at the Star and Post Llanelli HQ about young Mr Parry being more sartorially elegant inside the bear’s outfit than in his normal attire have been very much out of order!”

He was roped in by Millennium Coastal Park marketing manager Naomi Snelling – but it was all good PR for Nick, who’s certainly better known around town now.

Previously, local freelance Ron Cant had dressed up as Uncle Sam for an event to promote the £28m project – the largest project outside Cardiff Bay.
