Hacks enjoy a panto treat(Oh yes they did…)

Staff from a Somerset newsroom were in fine voice as they enjoyed their annual trip to the local pantomime.

Reporters, subs and newsdesk staff from the Weston and Worle News reverted back to their childhood during a performance of Cinderella at the Weston Playhouse.

The crew laughed and giggled at the performance which featured Adele Silva from Emmerdale as Cinderella and Carry On star Jack Douglas as her father, Baron Hardup.

Also in the show were EastEnders actor Andrew Lynford who played Buttons and double act Darrock and Howe as the ugly sisters.

The News team were given complimentary tickets for the pantomime by the Playhouse – and they seemed to have a great time.

News editor Juliet Auty said: “I really enjoyed it. The jokes were decidedly corny but it was obvious a lot of research had been done as most of them contained references to the area.”

Reporter Simon Angear said: “The cast obviously work very hard and there’s enough familiar musical numbers to get even the hardiest of souls clapping along.”

Sub-editor Neil Alsop said: “I thought it was an excellent show and I especially enjoyed the slightly risque ‘ghoulies’ joke.”

Leisure reporter Greg Pearson said: “Jack Douglas was good and Adele Silva complimented the show perfectly.”

But reporter Nick Pearson obviously had his eyes on other things.

He said: “I particularly enjoyed the dancers.”
