The Wirral Globe has been entrusted to distribute a reader’s cash among local charities.

An anonymous donor handed over the £4,000 and hoped the paper – with its contacts and local knowledge, would be best placed to decide which good causes should benefit.

The first two instalments of the donation have been handed out, with a children’s hospice and a domestic violence advice service receiving £500 each.

Gill Maynard, from the Claire House hospice said: “We are very grateful to the donor who has really done something special to help local children.

“This money will be a great help and we all offer our heartfelt gratitude to this wonderful person and The Globe.”
